Today we had a slow start. I decided to let the family sleep in, since it's Saturday, and we have basically just been hanging out--doing chores around here as we feel like it. Not a bad way to pass a Saturday morning. As most of my in-real-life people know, my husband Matt has been out of work for over a year now. Last June, his eye was injured at work, then a parasitical infection set in. Not only was he extreme pain for many months, he was left with permanent damage to his eye, and he won't ever be able to see as well out of that eye as he was before. He describes it as if he's looking though fuzzy glass, which is of course the situation due to the scar on his eye. Now that he can return to work, the economy has taken a turn for the worse, and there aren't many jobs available. He spends time EVERYDAY putting out applications, calling people he knows, sending out resumes...he's working his butt off trying to find something.
I say all this, not to whine, rather to express my gratitude. Gratitude for my husband who is so willing to try so hard for our family. His persistence and resilience is a wonder to me. Maybe I am too thin-skinned, but I don't know how I would fare in his position. And yet, he stays positive...he still smiles, laughs, and gives hugs as though we have no need to worry. When I open yet another bill and get flustered and feel desperate, he always tells me we'll be ok. I am so grateful for him. Grateful that he is the same loving person no matter what situation we face. I wish I could say that I am the same for him, but sadly he married a tempest.
May God bless you and your family as you walk in the midst of uncertainty, and may you learn to see through the lens of your husband, who apparently sees God quite clearly through the fuzzy glass.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that like most naturally Calm people, he appreciates the Tempest as much as we Tempest people appreciate the Calm (which is to say, most of the time :D)
ReplyDeleteWhat does Matt do? (Other than be amazing, I mean! LOL)
Good start Lig...I will send you some skin...
ReplyDeleteToo true, Lexie, most of the time the differences in our temperments are very nicely complementary.
ReplyDeleteOh, he's a civil engineer/project manager. And in my completely unbiased opinion (wink, wink) he is amazing:D
